How does interpersonal skills help you become successful in your workplace? We may, most of the time think that just doing your job, even you do not interact with your colleagues, will be enough for your to be able to succeed in your workplace. As per my experience, it comes hand-in-hand, being able to work well with your colleagues and perform your tasks. Being able to interact with others around you affects the way you perform. Having a happy and harmonious relationship with everybody causes you to be more knowledgeable and be confident of your self.

About 80% of employees are said to be more productive and happy in their workplaces if they have a great relationship with their co-workers. Around 90% of employees leave their jobs if they are having a hard time dealing with their colleagues. This means that practicing your interpersonal skills benefits you as an employee and as a person.

The big question is, how do we do it? This has been my question to myself, too, before. I learned that you have to accept others' differences. Do not think that you are always right. Learn from the others. You also have to learn to accept feedback in a positive way. Lastly, be always nice to everybody always in all ways.

Accepting others' differences makes other people comfortable with you. This will make it easier for you to interact with others if you think and move comfortably around other people.

Do not think that you are always right. Remember, that nobody is perfect. We always need other people to compliment what we have as a person. Eventhough you have the best experience, still there are alot of things that you do not know. You can learn those things from other people. Learn from the people around you. At the same time, let them learn something from you too.

In order to be at your best, you need to improve. All of us has something we need to improve. Always be humble and accept feedback in a positive way. The best way to learn is to ask others of how they perceive you and what do they think are your areas to improve. In such a way, you will be conceived as a person who is consistently improving.

Be nice to everybody. It is not easy to do it but we need to be nice at all time taking into consideration how others will feel in everything we do, say or think. Remember, this is the hardest thing to do, however, this is the most effective way to be able to have a harmonious relationship and to be able to build your interpersonal skills.
